AWAM recognises the strength of collaborative work and forming partnerships with individuals, organisations, and coalitions that share our objectives in achieving gender equality, securing women’s human rights and supporting women in crisis.

We network with other civil society and women’s groups, government bodies, communities, and also work together with men to bring about an end to violence against women.

The key women’s groups AWAM collaborates with are other core members of the Joint Action Group for Gender Equality (JAG), formerly known as the Joint Action Group against Violence Against Women (JAG-VAW) – Sisters in Islam (SIS), Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO), Women’s Centre for Change (WCC) Penang, Women’s Development Collective (WDC), and Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) - Women’s Committee.

Civil society and human rights groups we engage with include Amnesty International – Malaysia (AI-Malaysia), Human Rights in Malaysia (HAKAM) and Suara Rakyat Malaysia (SUARAM). We have also worked with the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM).

In government, we have a working relationship with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, and the Ministry of Education.
