AWAM had been invited by the Luther Center, PJ to give a talk on Domestic Violence under their Women Abuse Program for members of the church.
The speakers at the event include Rev. David who spoke on gender equality from a biblical point of view, Madam Lisa Sum from Agape Center who addressed trauma and abuse (Madam Lisa was remembering her youth with AWAM, WAO, and SIS “back in the day”).

This program was truly special as it is conducted mainly in Mandarin as the church feels that domestic violence is rarely addressed within the Chinese speaking community. We love the initiative and we are much heartened by the fact that religious institutions are beginning to understand domestic violence is not a private family matter but rather a social problem that requires much support from the community.
