Tips on How To Make A Police Report

To make an official report, you may lodge it at your nearest police station.

If you are going to the police station, you can expedite the process by preparing a draft report beforehand. Only Malay or English reports are accepted. 

It is important to ensure that the report covers the following fundamental questions: 

  • When did the incident occur?
  • Where did the incident occur?
  • What and how did the incident happen?
  • Who was involved in the incident?
  • Any physical, psychological or emotional impact(s)?
  • Why is the report being lodged? 

 

State your intention(s) of lodging the report as either a “case report” or “action report”.

  • A case report is filed when you do not intend to press any charges and only intend for your case to be documented. 
  • An action report is filed when you seek for further action to be taken.
